Here’s what I want from YOU, for my 26th birthday….

Here’s what I want from YOU, for my 26th birthday….

There are +\- 400,000 kids in foster care in the U.S. Many organizations have been established to help lower this number and address the REAL issues at the core of the problem.

I want to highlight 1 specifically: 111Project

Their mission: IF EVERY CHURCH COMMITTED ONE FAMILY, FOR ONE PURPOSE WE CAN LEAVE NO, CHILD WITHOUT A FAMILY.

Short Version:

Don’t get/buy me anything(as if you were going to…. ;)) but instead, consider donating any amount of money you can to 111project.org to help kids find a Permanent Family, and home.

THAT is what I want for my birthday. Please get it for me.

Long Version:

Years ago, I read a statistic that stated that if ONE family in every Christian Church in the US would adopt ONE child from foster care, there wouldn’t be a single kid without a home in the U.S. That is a huge call out to not just the Christian community, but everyone.

When I heard this statistic, I knew in my heart that someday I would adopt some kids as my own. When my wife Rachel and I were just friends, she told me that she had felt that calling as well, and was also raised in a family that adopted two kids out of foster care.

A few years after I heard this, my sister Jenna began working for 111project, and when I saw their mission/idea of “111“, it only solidified, and affirmed my conviction of wanting to adopt.

And then, as I aforementioned, Rachel shared this same desire with me, and we are patiently waiting, and praying, for God to call us to action at the right time, and with the right child.

I could easily explain how easy it would be for you to give(You know, cut out that $9.00 drink from Late land..just once or twice a week), but if you don’t feel a strong conviction to do so, don’t do it – but find SOMETHING to give to; it’s good for the soul, you know. However, I urge you to duly consider the impact a donation WILL make to 111project and the kids/families they are helping.
